FAQs

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is a style of Pilates developed by Joseph Pilates in 1926. It’s a low impact form of exercises that utilized the Reformer machine which features adjustable springs and a sliding carriage. The method focuses on controlled movements that strengthen the whole body, enhance flexibility and improve overall body alignment.

One of the key benefits of Reformer Pilates is the meditative quality it offers. The practice encourages mindfulness and concentration, allowing participants to connect deeply with their bodies and breath providing the perfect antidote to our busy lives. This mental focus transforms the workout into an exercise for both the mind and body, promoting relaxation and will leave you feeling strong and energised.

What are the benefits of Reformer Pilates?

There are so many but here are some of our faves:

  • Build core strength and stability

  • Improved flexibility and range of motion

  • Enhanced muscular endurance

  • Better posture and overall body alignment

  • Improved mood

  • Reduced risk of injury

I’ve never done reformer Pilates before, can I join any class?

We advise you to join a minimum of four FORM (beginner) classes or a series of 1:1s with one of our instructors to begin with so you can be set up safely on the reformer, understand the basic principles and ultimately get so much more from your sessions. Once completed you’re free to join any classes you wish.

I’m really nervous about coming to class, what should I do?

We’ve all been there. It’s completely normal to feel nervous before attending a new class. Simply drop us a DM beforehand or let your friendly instructor know when you arrive so they can welcome you and get you settled before the class starts.

How many sessions per week do I need to do to feel a difference?

Consistency is key with Pilates. We recommend a minimum of 3-4 sessions a week. That way you’ll start to feel a big difference within 4-6 weeks. Reformer Pilates is the most efficient way to feel that difference quickly due to the added resistance but we understand that’s not possible for everyone so we recommend supplementing your reformer classes with Mat Pilates classes or home practice.

What happens if I'm late for class?

For safety and security, we have a zero tolerance policy to lateness. Please aim to arrive 5 minutes before your session. Refunds will not be granted to latecomers.

What is your waitlist policy?

When you book yourself onto the waitlist for a class, you are essentially in a queue for an available spot on the attendance list.

If a spot becomes available for you, you are automatically bumped up onto the attendance list. Our waitlist is automated up until an hour before the class start time.

Make sure to remove yourself from the waitlist if you can no longer make a class, as standard terms and conditions apply if you get bumped into the class.

If you don’t get added to the class, the credit you used to join the waitlist will go back onto your account so you can use it for a future class.

How do I get ready for class?

Wear something stretchy and comfortable. Please wear grippy socks (bring your own or you can buy from the studio)

Water bottle

Tie long hair up with a hair tie (no claw clips please as they damage the reformers)

Switch your phone to silent to avoid disturbing the class

Where can I park?

On residential streets around the studio such as Heathfield Rd or Waterloo Road which is a couple of minutes walk. Alternatively you can park in the Lidl car park for free for half an hour which is a 4 minute walk to the studio.

Do you do any discounts?

We do, yes! We offer a 10% discount for students and NHS workers, provided you can produce a student card or NHS employee card upon purchase. Please contact the studio to arrange.
